It hard to believe that the Minnesota Vikings were undefeated just a few weeks ago, but they entered this week 9 match-up loser of two straight and hoping to avoid a third. The Detroit Lions came in winners of three of their last four and hoping to get within one game of the division lead. It took a miraculous catch and an extra effort by Golden Tate in overtime that gave the Lions the win over the free falling Vikings.

The Lions were in control for the majority of the game but the Vikings were able to chip away and eventually take the lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter. On the ensuing drive, Matthew Stafford quickly lead the Lions down the field to the Vikings 40 with no timeouts. Then kicker Matt Prater hit a 58 yard field goal as time expired to send the game to overtime. In OT, Stafford was able to find Tate on the sideline for a 28 yard TD and a Detroit win, improving their record to 5-4 while dropping the Vikings to 5-3.

Stafford went 23 for 36 and 219 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Theo Riddick led the Lions with 70 yards rushing on 14 carries. Tate had 11 receptions for 79 yards and a TD. Eric Ebron added seven receptions for 92 yards. Sam Bradford went 31 for 40 and 273 yards for the Vikings. Ronnie Hillman lead the Vikes with 30 yards on seven carries while Stefon Diggs grabbed 13 passes for 80 yards.

Next up for the Lions is a bye week while the Vikings look to get back on track when they visit the Washington Redskins.
